The challenge
Fiona came to us on recommendation from her Mum. When we first visited her home, her bathroom had remained unchanged for 15 years. The space felt cramped and outdated, dominated by chunky fixtures that took up valuable room and offered little to no storage. It lacked personality and practicality — two things Fiona wanted to bring back in abundance.
Their brief was clear: To inject fun and colour, introduce clever storage, and include a freestanding bath — all while maintaining a soft nod to traditional design through patterned tiles, panelling, and paint.
The vision
The design concept focused on creating a bathroom that felt uplifting yet timeless. Fiona wanted a space that would:
- Celebrate colour without overwhelming the room
- Combine patterned flooring with painted panelling for a classic-meets-contemporary look
- Include layered lighting sources to create ambience and flexibility
- Balance modern fixtures with traditional detailing for a truly individual finish
The goal was to design a bathroom that felt personal, warm, and full of character — a space that would make her smile every time she stepped inside.
The process
Fiona began her journey by visiting our showroom, where she explored a variety of displays and quickly found inspiration in the mix of textures, tones, and finishes. This visit helped shape the design direction and gave her confidence in the materials she loved.
We then carried out our complimentary home measuring service, capturing every detail to ensure the new layout would maximise space and flow. Key design decisions and product selections included:
- Brushed brass coloured brassware for a refined finish and timeless appeal
- Floorstanding furniture offering practical storage and clean, modern lines
- Shower enclosure with gold detailing to add warmth and elegance
- Tiles combining pattern and texture for a playful yet sophisticated look
- Underfloor heating for everyday comfort and luxury
Each element was chosen to bring Fiona’s vision to life — a bathroom that feels both functional and full of personality.
The result
The finished space is a perfect blend of modern and traditional design, creating a bathroom that’s truly unique to Fiona. The pop of colour on the walls warms the room beautifully, contrasting against the monochrome tones of the furniture and tiles. The freestanding bath provides a sculptural focal point, while the patterned floor and gold accents tie the whole scheme together.
What was once a cramped, outdated room is now a joyful retreat — stylish, practical, and full of charm.
